About This Course

This course is a hands-on introduction to Houdini for 3D artists and game developers coming from Maya, Blender, C4D, and real time engines like Unity, Godot, and Unreal. We start from zero and focus on procedural thinking, not advanced FX tricks. You’ll learn how Houdini works through real examples - modeling, attributes, groups, topology, UVs, heightfields, scattering, tool creation, and a clear introduction to simulations.
The course stays practical and visual, showing how Houdini fits into real production pipelines, including Unreal workflows, basic rendering, and simulation previews. All lessons were recorded live and then edited and segmented to fit this platform. This makes it easy to follow the course in order or jump straight to specific topics when you need a quick reminder.
The course also includes many links, exercises and resources to help you continue learning on your own. By the end, you’ll understand Houdini’s logic, feel comfortable building node networks and scenes, and have the confidence to keep working and learning in Houdini.
About the instructor:
Eldad Sery is a Houdini Certified Instructor with many years of experience working and teaching in professional production environments. He is also an Unreal Authorized Instructor and an Autodesk Maya Certified Instructor, and has taught thousands of students from different backgrounds, studios, and industries.
Eldad focuses on helping artists understand how things work behind the scenes, not just which buttons to press. He explains Houdini concepts by connecting them to familiar ideas from Maya, Blender, C4D, and game engines, using clear comparisons and equivalent terms. This approach makes it much easier to enter the wide and sometimes overwhelming world of Houdini, especially for artists coming from other 3D tools.

Welcome & Setup

The aim of this course is to give you the confidence to get started with Houdini. It builds on what you already know as a 3D artist and gives you the basics needed to start doing things in Houdini. In this short module we go over what the course covers, how Houdini is used in production, and how to set it up so you can follow along. The lessons were recorded live and then edited to focus on the important parts. You can watch them in order or jump to specific topics when you need a quick reminder of what to do and why. The goal is not to cover every tool in depth, but to help you understand how Houdini thinks and feel comfortable continuing on your own.
